The iconic Swiss resort of Mürren will open for its 25-26 season on Saturday, 1st November 2025, with one accessed via the Riggli chairlift. Thanks to snow farming, a complete ski slope and a snow park has been created for the third time in a row.
During the first three weeks of November, the facility will be open on Saturdays and Sundays before commencing continuous operation on 22nd November. Day tickets are available at a reduced price during the pre-season. The new AlpsPass and the Jungfrau Ski Region season pass will be valid from 1st November.
November is a big month for the resort as by its end the second Funifor lift track between Mürren and Birg is due to open, this route will reach full capacity just in time for the peak season. Funifors are a kind of high capacity, highly stable cable car that can operate independently of the need for a counter-balancing cabin.
This is another milestone in the SCHILTHORNBAHN 20XX project, which will be completed at the beginning of April 2026 with the opening of the second Funifor track on the Birg-Schilthorn route.
In fact, Mürren’s 25-26 season on its Schilthorn mountain already began at the end of September for freestyle skiers and snowboarders with a pre-bookable terrain park created, again using farmed snow.
Numerous teams from Switzerland and abroad, as well as private freestyle fans, have been using the setup in the Pända Snow Park for training purposes ever since.
Several events will also take place in the Mürren-Schilthorn area this coming winter. The first event, a freestyle slopestyle contest, has already taken place in the Pända Snowpark. In alpine skiing, the women will compete in the FIS slalom race in the Engetal on 19th and 20th November.
In addition to renowned events such as the 82nd International Inferno Race in January 2026 and the Whitestyle Open in March, the Swiss Snow Happening will take place in Mürren in April, where around 1,500 ski instructors will meet for a joint end-of-season celebration.
Mürren joins a number of Swiss areas already open for the 25-26 season, some currently also only at weekends, including Zermatt, Saas Fee, St Moritz (Diavolezza Glacier) and Engelberg.
