Two members of ski holiday company Iglu.com’s team are preparing to run the London Marathon on April 27th, 2025 in aid of Disability Snowsport UK (DSUK).
DSUK is the UK’s leading adaptive snowsport charity and helps disabled children and adults to be more active, make friends and have fun by taking part in snowsport. It provides inclusive snowsport for everyone; regardless of disability, injury or experience and operates ski schools at various locations throughout the UK as well as providing opportunities to ski and snowboard in a mountain environment worldwide.
Joe Bowler is Iglu Ski’s Senior Marketing Executive and has been actively running for about two years. He signed up for this marathon because he thinks it’s a great way to contribute to a good cause while pushing himself. He says the training has been going well, although there have been some challenging days.
Joe, who is able bodied but has tried sit-sking in a taster session with DSUK, says, “Skiing is so much fun, and adaptive equipment allows everyone to experience the mountains. DSUK does such an amazing job in making snowsports more accessible for everyone. As a sport, it’s such a great leveller’. Joe continues, ‘everyone has the right to access the unique physical, mental & social benefits of snowsport, regardless of disability, injury, or experience. I feel proud to be running the marathon for Disability Snowsport UK and hope my fundraising efforts can help to empower more children and adults with disabilities to give adaptive skiing or snowboarding a go.”
Francesco Fuca is Iglu Cruise’s SEO Executive and says he doesn’t remember a day going past in the last ten years when he hasn’t run. Running the marathon has always been a dream and doing it this year for a good cause, was the icing on the cake. He’s looking forward to crossing the finishing line and embracing his son Gabriele. Given that he is Italian, it’s no real surprise that a pizza will be waiting for him at the finishing line, perhaps with a decent pint of beer.
“The marathon is the ultimate test of endurance, determination, and passion—a milestone in every runner’s journey. After years of running and countless miles, 2025 is my year to take on one of the legendary World Marathon Majors! I’m thrilled to be running the TCS London Marathon, not just as a personal challenge, but to support DSUK’s incredible mission. Every step I take will be a tribute to the power of running and a cause that truly matters!” Francesco says, adding “Your donation will help fund lessons, adaptive equipment, and life-changing experiences. By taking on the London Marathon I want to help ensure more disabled children and adults experience the power of snowsport. If you can, please help me reach my fundraising goal and make a difference.”
