British-run chalet company AliKats, based in Morzine, France, has officially achieved B Corp™ Certification—making it one of the few chalet operators globally to meet the rigorous standards of social and environmental impact set by nonprofit B Lab.
Founded over a decade ago by Al and Kat Judge, AliKats operates 16 luxury chalets in the French Alps and has long been recognised as a sustainability leader in the region. The certification marks a major milestone in the company’s mission to donate or invest €1 million in protecting the planet by 2035. The year-long assessment involved over 300 questions, interviews, and evidence submissions, with AliKats surpassing the minimum score threshold by 13 points.
AliKats’ commitment to sustainability runs deep. All chalets are powered by renewable energy, cleaned with non-toxic products, and offer free EV charging. The company has maintained zero food waste for five years and offers discounts to guests arriving by train. Staff wellbeing is prioritised, with reduced hours and time allocated for volunteering. In early 2025, AliKats became a Société à Mission under French law, legally binding its environmental and social goals.
Beyond its own operations, AliKats co-founded Montagne Verte, a regional non-profit driving sustainable change in Haute Chablais. Initiatives include Morzine’s first bio-waste scheme and the AlpinExpress Pass, which rewards train travellers with resort discounts. Co-founder Al Judge also leads sustainability strategy for Seasonal Business in Travel (SBiT), advocating for low-carbon travel between the UK and the Alps.
“Becoming a Certified B Corporation is one of our proudest achievements yet,” said Al Judge. “It’s a recognition of the values we’ve built our business around—and a framework to push even further.”
